Beauty Pagent...
The girls put on quite the show the other day and although there was a little too much make up going on- they looked pretty cute! We got a little runway action too. Oh, Heaven help us in a few years!
Missing my Papa...
I told Dad last week that I needed a date so we planned to go on a super cold motorcycle ride yesterday because the weather was SUPPOSED to be in the 40's. When we had snow on Sunday and it stuck around on the roads for a bit AND the temp changed, I knew our ride would be out. We decided to go have lunch and hit a few stores instead. It was just what I needed, a few hours with him! Thanks Dad! I love you!
My artist...
I am a crazy Mom when it comes to keeping the art supplies away from Roman. He will draw on anything and I fear my new furniture will have perminant marker all over it if I'm not careful! With all the bigger kids able to get in my craft stuff and the girls art desk in their room, its inevitable that every once inawhile that little guy will draw all over the walls. This time he chose blue crayon and pink marker. Beautiful choice of color, but not on my wall kiddo!
Roman...
A fun new treasure...
Grace gives the lesson...
We have been having a difficult time with Grace and her lying lately, so when the last eposide came with the missing quarters and the multiple lies, I said, "Thank you for finally being honest, but as part of your punishment, you need to prepare a lesson for family home evening and give it on stealing and lying. I am pretty bummed that I missed the show last night but I will have her recap it for me!
Dates with the kids...
My friend got me a TCBY gift card for my bday so I used it to take each of the kiddos out on a date the past week.We had fun and I think I'm hooked on their stuff right now! Its something I try to do often- steal one of them and force them to go places with me, but usually if there is food involved, they are happy to be seen with me! Grace and I went on Wed waffle day and it was yummy! Love you Grace.

Skating...
Monday night I took the kids skating so trav could stay home and rest. The kids had been cooped up all day and although it was the last thing I wanted to do- we went and had fun. My brother got us a punch card there and it's been fun to go a few times! We took the stroller this time so Roman zoomed around and had a blast. He was sat and watched all the disco lights and other lights whiz by. It was a fun night and went super well with just me there to hold down the fort.
Shingles...
Over 2 weeks ago Trav started complaining about some burning & pain in his upper left thigh. We thought maybe his new pocket knife he got for Christmas was the culprut since it was in his pocket around the area that was bothering him. He took it out but continued to have really bad pain. Everyday it seemed to get worse, spreading and wrapping around his leg and I knew it was really hurting him. He didn't have a fever although but felt off. Days later a patch of red bumps appeared and he was almost relieved to see that something really was going on and it wasn't all in his head. The pain continued and just got worse. So did the bumps. They quickly turned into nasty looking blisters and we knew somrthing nasty was going on. By this time he hurt and we just wanted him to feel better. We took pictures and sent them to Shane to look at (he works in the ER) but he wasn't sure what it was. We called his Mom who is a retired nurse and she encouraged him to get looked at right away. The problem was, it was now past 8PM, the exact time all the Primary Health and Quick care clinics close. So he waited until morning and went in right away. It was dignosed in seconds and he picked up his perscription awhile later. He spent the next 5 days in bed fighting it and getting a nasty cold on top of it. It's been a week now since he got medicine and the blisters have now decended and are starting to crust over (sick, huh?) and he's feeling better, just not 100%. His body is still fighting it and who knows who long he will deal with the discomfort. We are very happy it chose to attack his leg and not his face, eyes or other places noticable. Just lots of love for my sweet man who finally made it back to work yesterday. It's been a rough couple weeks, that's for sure.
7th Annual noodle bath pictures!
I can't believe we've been doing this for 7 years now with the kids! It's crazy how times flies when you're having fun! Every year we get excited to get in the tub and squish the noodles and Willow couldn't wait any longer. She was in tears in the morning because she wanted to jump in but I had to explain if we did it then, everyone else would miss it and they would be super sad. "Okaaaay" she said with a super sad/pouty face. Dad watched the kiddos so we could go out to dinner that night (he got us a Goodwood gift card for Christmas!SOO yummy!) so we had fun there and then HAD to walk over to Craft wharehouse and look at the fabric and paper for a few minutes. It was a great night. It was messy, and strange and wildly fun. I'm so glad we do it. I just feel bad for the nursing home workers that will have to fullfill this wild tradition of mine when I'm 90! By then, I'll settle for my feet in a bucket full of them instead!
My cake...
34th B-day party!
I'm set!
I think I have all my riding gear now! Hahoo!! Now, if winter would hurry up and get over- we could hit the road. Oh. my. word. I want on that bike SOOOOO bad!!! I can't explain it other than it's the same feeling I have at the ocean. I feel free. I feel content. I feel whole. There is something about being on a motorcycle that calms me (although, I have to admit- now that I have 5 kids, I do think about dying a lot more than I ever did before. It's only on the freeway though, I'm not crazy about going 70+, I'm more of a 45 MPH girl. I like the back roads, the long roads... I just never want to get off!)
For Christmas and my B-day I got to use Dad's points at the Harley store so I picked out 2 more items I really needed. Gloves and eye wear! The glasses weren't cutting it (darn long eye lashes of mine!) so I went with goggles instead. I"m set. I have a coat, pants, helmet, goggles, gloves, boots and the desire to ride for hundreds of miles! (Next will be a warmer coat- but then thats it!)Thanks Dad!
Some Idiot...
Im posting this so I remember to actually do something about it now... a few weeks ago some truck came driving down the street too fast and hit the ice in front of our house. Of course he hit the fence post and bent it pretty good. My neighbor was the one he went to (which I was surprised he took pictures and got all of his info.)I went next door later to see what had happened and Ben told me the guy would be back on Saturday to fix it. Surprise, surprise, he hasn't fixed it! Now I get to go next door and either bug Ben to do something or start calling the guy who hit it.
